Anti-Ballistic Missiles

United States

The Nike Missile System originally started out as an Anti-Aircraft
missiles system to defend major populations and industrial regions of the
United States against the "Feared" Soviet long range bombers.
But over it's period of existence and numerous testing programs,
it was developed into a short lived Anti-Ballistic Missile system called
"Safeguard", which used the "Spartan" and "Sprint" missiles.
